Versus Aim Windows Guide: Pick Input, Run a Drill or Routine, Keep Rankings Separate
First-session Versus Aim on Windows: choose mouse or controller, run one 20s drill or a named routine like Quick 30, keep mouse and controller rankings separate, and sign in to submit personal bests.

Direct answer: Versus Aim is a free Windows aim trainer for the input you already use. Pick Ratón or Mando, set hip-fire and ADS the way you play, then run one 20-second drill or a named routine—Quick 30, Mouse 30, Controller 30, Recoil 30, or Competitive 40. Mouse and controller scores stay on separate boards. Mouse has no assist; controller runs allow light target slowdown. Sign in with your Versus account, finish a single ranked drill, and your personal best can join that scenario’s ranking for your input. You do not need a paid Remap plan.
You do not need forty minutes of random scenarios before you know whether the app fits your desk. You need one honest first session: same input as ranked, one clear run, a result you can compare later.
This is that path—input → one drill or named routine → separate rankings → sign in for PBs. It is not a five-minute pre-ranked checklist rewrite. If you already want a clocked warm-up before queue, soft-link the published free Windows aim trainer warm-up and come back here for how Aim itself is set up.
What Aim is for in a first session
Aim’s job on day one:
- Lock the input — mouse or controller, with settings that match how you play.
- Do short, named work — a single 20s drill, or one of the five ready routines.
- Read the right board — mouse and controller never share a ranking.
- Submit only what counts — sign in, finish a supported single-drill run, then check your PB.
What this post does not do:
- Promise a binary “download now” installer. Live CTA is Set up Aim (product + docs).
- Treat demo / recorded walkthrough footage as a score or benchmark. Practice on your PC.
- Invent assist strength numbers. Live wording is mouse = no assist; controller = light target slowdown.
- Pretend Aim is a console-native app. It runs on Windows; you can connect a controller there.
Windows. Free app. Training category—not Capture, not Performance. One Versus account when you want boards and submitted PBs.
Need the long form? Use the Set up Aim / Aim docs guide.
Step 1: Sign in and set mouse or controller
Open Versus Aim on Windows and choose Sign in with Versus. Approval opens in your browser. Compare the code under Match this code with the browser page, approve the matching request, then return to Aim and wait for the signed-in workspace. Your password stays in the browser flow—it is never entered in the Aim desktop app. Check the account name in the status bar before you train.
Then set the input you will actually use in ranked:
Ratón y teclado
Raw mouse input with separate hip-fire and ADS sensitivity. Adjust field of view and crosshair in the app before you enter the range. In Loadout / Settings you can also enter hardware DPI for the distance readout, horizontal and vertical scales, and optional smoothing. Polling rate is saved as a profile value; it does not measure or change your mouse.
Mando
Horizontal, vertical, and ADS stick settings, plus curve, deadzones, shoulder layout, optional light aim assist, and vibration. Ring Control is a controller-focused activity if stick centering is the skill you want first.
Keep the setup consistent. If warm-up sens, FOV, or assist choices differ from ranked, you are practicing a different sport—and your board comparisons get noisier.
If Windows does not see the pad, reconnect it and use Check again. Aim can still offer launch after a shell check misses a controller, but Windows must expose the device for controller input.
Step 2: Run one drill (20 seconds)
Abrir Train. Browse first-party drills with activity filters or Search activities. Each single drill runs for 20 segundos.
A clean first-session pick:
- Choose one skill area—Clicking, Tracking, Recoil, or Controller.
- Open an activity card (examples below).
- Select Start 20s drill.
- Review preflight: input, duration, performance target, result destination.
- Select Start training. Click the game window before moving the mouse if Aim asks you to lock the cursor.
Named drills worth knowing on day one
Product and docs surface ten drills. Four featured examples:
- Contact Flick — move to a new target, settle, confirm. First movement and stop in one short clicking drill.
- Strafe Trace — stay on a moving target through speed and direction changes.
- Recoil Transfer — counter the training rifle’s climb, then transfer to a fresh plate.
- Ring Control — deliberate stick movement and centering (controller).
También en la biblioteca: Micro Lane, Reactive Cutback, Entry Switch, Burst Discipline, Peek Confirm y Radial Clear.
One drill is enough for a first honest baseline. Finish it. Do not mid-run chase the product demo footage—that walkthrough is product UI, not your benchmark.
Step 3: Or start a named routine
When you want several short exercises without building a custom list yet, open Rutinas. Filter with All, 30s, or 40s, select a routine, review its drill list, and choose Start routine.
First-party routines on the live product and docs:
| Routine | What it is for (first session) |
|---|---|
| Quick 30 | Half-minute mixed warm-up |
| Mouse 30 | Mouse-focused 30s block |
| Controller 30 | Controller-focused 30s block |
| Recoil 30 | Recoil-focused 30s block |
| Competitive 40 | Longer competitive-oriented block |
Quick 30 breakdown (live product):
- First 10 seconds — Contact Flick
- Next 10 seconds — Strafe Trace
- Final 10 seconds — Entry Switch
Want your own sequence later? Create lets you add scenarios at 10, 15, or 20 second reps, keep two to six reps, and stay at 90 seconds or less total. Save keeps the draft on this PC.
Important for rankings: routine scores stay in your run history. They are not placed on a single-drill leaderboard. If your goal today is a submitted PB on a board, finish with a single 20s ranked drill while signed in—not only a routine.
Step 4: Separate rankings and submitting PBs
This is the part players get wrong when they bounce between mouse and pad.
Live rules:
- Each drill has separate mouse and controller rankings.
- Ratón input has no assist.
- Mando runs allow light target slowdown.
- A higher personal best replaces your previous score for that scenario and input.
- The two input partitions never share a ranking.
To put a PB on the board:
- Stay signed in.
- Complete a single 20-second ranked drill on the input you care about.
- Wait for the completion notice, or open Clasificaciones.
- Choose the drill and the correct input partition.
- If delivery stalls, use Retry score delivery and leave Aim open for automatic retry—your saved run stays on this PC.
Leaderboards let you pick drill, input partition, and scoring version. Docs note a connected preseason board with older boards as read-only archives—treat that as board UI, not a season pitch. Do not invent anti-cheat or season ladder details beyond finishing a supported signed-in drill and checking the matching partition.
Benchmarks (Contact Flick, Strafe Trace, Entry Switch, Reactive Cutback) also keep MNK and Mando progress separate. Optional later—not required for first session.
Review the run, then stop while it still feels useful
After a session, open Analytics for runs saved for your account on this PC. Filter All runs, Single drills, Combat, MNK, or Controller. Open a session for score, accuracy, input, rules, and per-drill measurements when available. Coach can suggest a next drill from accepted completed runs—useful after you have a few honest scores, not as a substitute for picking input correctly once.
Keep eyes on the target during the run. Compare after. That is how personal bests stay useful instead of becoming mid-drill score panic.
Light troubleshooting before you blame the board
- Score not on the board — signed in? Was it a single ranked drill (not only a routine or Freightlock bot match)? Try Retry score delivery.
- Wrong board — check mouse vs controller partition. Mixing inputs is how you lie to yourself.
- Training game unavailable — read the session error; Aim checks that the installed training game matches the desktop app. Include the displayed error for support; do not delete run history to “fix” it.
- Console Aim? — Aim is Windows-only. Connect a controller on PC; it is not a standalone console app.
- Setup / account — return to Set up Aim rather than inventing an installer button.
Unranked Freightlock bot matches exist for combat feel later. Their team results stay separate from single-drill rankings—skip them until your first drill or routine baseline is done.
