Versus Remap Stream Overlay: Show DualSense or Xbox Inputs in OBS
Show DualSense or Xbox inputs on stream with Versus Remap’s controller overlay. Same-PC Browser Source for OBS or Streamlabs, Before mapping or Virtual output, Add to OBS helper.

Direct answer: Versus Remap includes a customizable controller stream overlay for Windows. Keep Remap and your broadcast app on the same PC, sign in, connect your DualSense or Xbox pad (or whatever pad you remapped), and apply a profile in Mappings. Open Stream overlay → Design, pick Before mapping or Virtual controller output, then either Copy source URL into an 800 × 480 Browser Source (OBS, Streamlabs, or another compatible app) or use Add to OBS to drop a Browser Source into a scene. Every Remap plan includes the overlay — no separate overlay purchase. Keep the private source URL on your machine; it is not a second-PC or cloud feed.
Viewers should see the pad you actually use — physical presses, or the mapped virtual result — without a third-party overlay buy.
This guide is the Remap → OBS / Streamlabs path. It is not the day-one apply/slot/shift walkthrough and not a DualSense Edge paddle deep dive. Apply a profile first, then put inputs on the scene.
What this guide is for (and what it skips)
You will:
- Confirm Remap and OBS / Streamlabs share one Windows PC.
- Choose Before mapping vs Virtual controller output.
- Add the overlay as a Browser Source (copy URL) or through the OBS helper.
- Customize DualSense, Xbox, or controls-only layout, then fix blank/disconnected states without leaking the private URL.
You will not get:
- A claim that Xbox Elite back paddles, virtual Switch Pro, or Bluetooth rumble work in this build (they do not).
- A second-machine or cloud overlay URL (the source is local).
- A hard “buy now / download now” checkout (online purchases are not enabled yet on the product FAQ).
- A re-teach of Save & apply, quick slots, or shift layers — use the apply / slot / shift Remap guide if the profile is not Applied yet.
- A DualSense-as-Xbox identity deep dive or Edge paddle map — those live in DualSense to Xbox on Windows and DualSense Edge Remap on PC.
Prerequisites: same PC, signed in, profile applied
Remap and the broadcast app must run on the same Windows PC. The overlay is part of Remap; there is no separate overlay SKU.
Before you touch OBS:
- Open Remap and sign in.
- Connect the controller (DualSense or Xbox One / Series over USB per current Remap support — or whatever pad you already remapped).
- In Mappings, apply a profile — Save & apply to a quick slot until you see it running. The live overlay feed needs an active mapping, not just a pad Windows can see.
If Physical input test is dead, fix the cable and device connection first. If you have never applied a slot, stop and finish the apply / slot / shift Remap guide first.
Choose what viewers see: Before mapping or Virtual output
Open Stream overlay → Design. Under Live input source:
- Before mapping — physical input sampled by the mapping service (what your hands press).
- Virtual controller output — the mapped result the game receives.
Pick one on purpose. Streaming a DualSense that Remaps to Xbox identity? Virtual controller output shows the remapped story. Teaching muscle memory on the physical pad? Before mapping stays honest about what you pressed.
Turn the editor Demo switch off when you check the real feed. Demo animates the editor only; it never supplies input to your stream.
Path A: Copy source URL into OBS or Streamlabs
- In Remap Stream overlay, select Copy source URL. That starts the local source and copies its private URL.
- In OBS Studio, Streamlabs, or another compatible broadcast app, add a Browser Source.
- Paste the URL. Set Width: 800 and Height: 480.
- In OBS, leave Local file off when you use the URL.
- Position and resize the source in the scene. Press face buttons and move both sticks while watching the scene preview before you go live.
Streamlabs and other compatible apps use this copied-URL path (not the OBS-specific helper below).
Path B: Add to OBS with the local helper
As an alternative to copying the URL by hand, choose Add to OBS in Remap. That opens a local setup page. It does not start a broadcast.
- In OBS Studio, open Tools → WebSocket Server Settings.
- Enable the server, keep authentication enabled, and note the port and password.
- In the Remap helper, enter that port and password, then Connect to OBS. Default port is 4455.
- Select the intended scene and choose Add overlay to scene.
The helper creates a new Browser Source. It does not replace existing sources and does not start streaming or recording.
The OBS password is for local authentication only. Remap does not save it or send it to Versus servers. If adding the source times out, inspect the scene before retrying so you do not stack duplicates.
Keep the private source URL local
Do not paste that private URL into public posts, VOD descriptions, Discord pins, or screenshots meant for the internet. It is a local PC source, not a URL for a second streaming PC or a cloud overlay service. Your broadcast app is what sends the finished scene to Twitch, YouTube, Kick, or wherever you stream. Share a .versusoverlay design file if you want someone else to match your graphic — never the source URL.
Customize DualSense, Xbox, or controls-only
Open Stream overlay to edit the graphic. The editor and the Browser Source share the same design. Edits save locally; a running source picks up design changes without needing a brand-new source in the scene.
- Under Design → Controller layout, choose DualSense, Xbox, or Controls only. Changing layout resets control positions.
- Choose Symbols or ABXY labels. Adjust pressed-control, shell, center/grip, button, outline, and wordmark colors. Use Transparent background to sit the graphic over gameplay video, or pick a solid background color.
- Click a control to open Control settings. Drag it, use arrow keys with the canvas focused, or enter X/Y. Tune size, custom label, pressed color, and Visible on stream. Hidden controls stay selectable in the dropdown.
- Use Snap for stepped positioning, Undo for recent edits, or Reset positions to restore positions while keeping appearance and visibility choices.
- Export design saves a
.versusoverlayfile. Import design loads a saved or shared design.
The Versus mark stays visible; place it bottom left, center, or right. Exported files hold design settings only — not live input, account credentials, or your private source URL.

If the overlay is blank or disconnected
Work this checklist before rebuilding the scene:
- Keep Remap open and signed in.
- Confirm the overlay source is running.
- Re-apply the profile in Mappings if the input feed dropped.
- Use Browser preview in Remap to separate a Remap source problem from an OBS / Streamlabs scene problem.
- Remember: Demo never feeds the stream — turn it off and press real controls.
Stop source, signing out, or closing Remap stops the feed. After you reopen Remap, start again with Browser preview, Copy source URL, or Add to OBS. The saved URL stays the same.
If port 26741 is already in use, close the other overlay instance and retry.
FAQ
Can I show DualSense and Xbox layouts?
Yes. Remap’s overlay supports DualSense, Xbox, and controls-only layouts, plus colors, labels, positions, and transparency. Pick the layout that matches how you want the stream to read — not only which pad is in your hands.
Before mapping or Virtual controller output — which should I pick?
Before mapping shows physical input the mapping service samples. Virtual controller output shows the mapped result. If you Remap DualSense into an Xbox-style identity for the game, Virtual output is usually the clearer story for viewers. If you are teaching raw pad presses, use Before mapping.
Will this work on a second PC or as a cloud URL?
No. Remap and the broadcast app must run on the same Windows PC. The Browser Source URL is a private local source. Keep it out of public posts. Your broadcast app sends the scene to the streaming destination.
Why is my overlay blank even though the pad works in Windows?
Confirm Remap is signed in, the overlay source is running, and a profile is applied in Mappings — a connected pad alone is not enough. Use Browser preview to see whether Remap’s source is healthy before blaming the scene. Turn Demo off. If you stopped the source, signed out, or closed Remap, restart the feed; the saved URL should still match.
Is Add to OBS required for Streamlabs?
No. Add to OBS is the OBS Studio WebSocket helper. Streamlabs and other compatible apps use the Copy source URL → Browser Source path (800 × 480).
Soft next step
Apply a Remap profile, open Stream overlay, pick Before mapping or Virtual output, then drop an 800 × 480 Browser Source into your scene — or use Add to OBS on the same PC. Prove buttons and sticks in the scene preview before you go live. Keep the private URL private.
